License

if you attend a nursing school in one state and take nclex in a different state, which state do you get a license from? I'm assuming that it is from the state you attend school in. is this correct?

The state in which you applied to the board of nursing for a license by examination.

If I go to school in NY, apply to Florida BoN for a license by examination and physically take the NCLEX in Maryland you would end up with a Florida license.

Yep, what they said. You can take the NCLEX anywhere, but whatever state you applied for is where you get licensed.

I believe you were considering an unaccredited school in Florida, correct?

If you pass the program in Florida, and decide you want to be licensed in California....the CA BON would still have to approve your education in order to make you eligible to take NCLEX.

So please just keep that in mind. And even if you apply to the FL BON, and are approved to take NCLEX for Florida licensure and begin working or whatever, and attempt to obtain a license by endorsement (transfer) the CA BON will still reserve the right to poo poo on your unaccredited school credits.
