license question

hi all,

does anyone know how long it takes to get a license in VA, washington DC? I have a licence in NJ and planning to move down there. And also i have heard there are states that only one license can be used for several states...please tell me which are these states...

If you get the license in VA it is part of the multistate compact. So you could work in MD as well and a bunch of other states. I live in MD and just passed my NCLEX so I don't know how long it takes to move from another state and have your license here. DC is not part of the compact so if you want to work in DC you have to get your license there. Here is a link that shows the states that are part of the multistate compact.

Hope it helps a little.

I'm a nurse fron NM (compact state). Do you guys know if I have to do something to work in another compact state? Or just apply for a job like in NM?
