license question--help!

Published

I am looking into becoming an RN care manager. Basicaly, it is authorization for hospitalization, follow up with pt, etc. It is NOT direct patient care. The job I am applying for does require an RN license. My question--to kep your RN license "active", don't you have to do direct patient care so often in able to renew your license? Would this job count towards me "working as a RN" in terms of keeping license active?

thanks!

No, that's what your CEs are for. Your CEs keep your license active and up to date, well, that and employment (which I'm assuming is the same throughout the country). Keeping your skills is another issue because for that, yeah, you'd have to do patient care.

It's an RN job, isn't it? So you're working as an RN. If your state requires CEUs, you need to keep up with those. Even if you weren't working as an RN at all, you could keep your license active with CEUs.
