Letters of Recc.

I am in the process of gathering info for my application to NP school. I am applying to 3 at this time. I have a whole array of people to get my letters of recc from....just wondering who my 3 should be. I have a NP w/ 15+yrs of experience, an new NP (about 8 months in)...those are kind of my "given". But the other one is getting me. I have a friend that just got accepted into NP school (one i'm applying to)..she is a CCRN and has been my preceptor AND my charge nurse when i was in ICU. I also have my current boss....my manager in the Cath Lab (where i currently work). Does it matter? do I go with the NP student/charge nurse or do I go w/ my current boss?

thanks!

My references were 2 instructors from undergrad & the nurse educator with a MSN on my unit. Our references had to have graduate level educations.

Specializes in Emergency.

Do any of the schools have specific requirements. Mine was specific in what it wanted, so that's what I did. I think they wanted someone who knew me for a long time, someone who could attest to my days in my undergraduate program and someone who had experience with me in my work or something like that.

I had to have a current NP, and the other two were my choice for South University. I used the NP at the clinic where I do case management at, then my medical director who is a MD, and then my current supervisor who is a RN but has her MSN in Health Administration. =)
