Ok,
I have been told that in order to really get a chance at getting on at any of our local hospital's you need to leave a message for or talk to the Nurse Manager for the department you are interested in. I am trying to get a job as a PCA since I'm just in a CNA program now. What is an apporprate message to leave in regards to being interested in a position?
Thanks for your help I know all of you will be able to give me something great!

"Hello, my name is ___. I am very much interested in talking to you about a position as a patient care assistant. I will be graduating from the CNA program at _________ on (date). May I bring by my resume? Please call me at (number) to let me know when I may visit with you. Thanks. "
Add any pertinent experience you might have. Speak clearly with no background music or kids crying if you can help it. Also, if you leave a number make sure the answering message is not silly or cutsey. You want to sound professional because the manager wants you to be able to talk to patients and families in a professional manner. Good luck!!!
Thank you thank you thank you soooo much. I have talked with two people already and they have been very nice. I knew someone on here could give me something great to say.
Thanks again!:thankya: :thankya:

Good advice. I am always impressed when someone makes the effort to find out about, and visit the hospital beforehand. After all, it is meant to be a two-way process - finding out if the hospital is right for you & them finding out if you are the right employee.... yes, I know I live in a rose-tinted world at times!

Excellent advice. May I add, whenever you are leaving a phone message/recording, always begin with your name and phone number, then end with your name and phone number again. This eliminates mistakes when messages are chopped at the beginning or ending of the recording. When I was working- and getting 75-100 voicemails a day, nothing irritated me more than to get a well qualified individual with a very professional recording- but an incomplete phone number....... Good luck with the job hunting.
