Laptop options

Hello. Thanks in advance for reading & stating your opinions. I'll be starting my RN pre-reqs soon, and I'm wondering which type of laptop to invest in.

I have been wanting to cross over into the apple world. I have an ipad & ipod. However, I currently use a Dell ( Microsoft)for laptop purposes. I'm interested in finding a mac of some sort for school.

Which model/type do you recommend, why? How about having a Ms word conversion or program installed. What's your experience with this? Do you like it? Why? Why not?

Thank you for your time!

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro 13". It would depend on what all you would do on your computer. I use mine for photography, school, games and I have a ton of music. The good thing about the 2011 models (and maybe 2012, I haven't looked into when they changed up), is that everything isn't soldered together. Therefore, I'm able to add memory to my computer when I need it. I started out with 4GB and added 2GB because it started to run slow. I plan on adding two more GB and possibly a solid state drive. I have Pages for paper writing. There's an option to export the document as a Word or PDF document. I love Pages because it's simple to use and when it's updated it isn't an extravagant update, unlike Word.

I primarily want to use it for school. Writing papers, notes, research etc. Since I do have other apple devices I may transfer pics/music. I have the impression that my laptop will be my new best friend while in school. ;-) So I'll need to carry it with me everywhere.

Thank you for your input. There are so many options that it's nice to have some feedback from other RN students. Thank you!

If you're only going to be using it for light activities I'd say go for the MacBook Air! Good luck :)
