Langara Fall 2017

Hi!

It's super early but I wanted to start a thread for those planning to apply to Langara for the Fall 2017 intake!

I am finishing one last prerequisite and will be applying as soon as applications open in November.

Who else is going to apply to this intake?!

I have applied! Just wondering if volunteer hours would give you a better chance even though that's not a requirement!

Langara looks at GPA only! What GPA did you apply with if you don't mind me asking? :)

My gpa is not very high considering the cutoff in the past few intakes was 3.8..unless you have a bachelors degree. I applied for sept 2016 and jan 2017 and was waitlisted both times..so i feel my chances are slim. Worth a try though. I have 300 volunteer hours at bc childrens so i do wish they could look at that, but its alright. I am also waiting to get into douglas, finished my pre reqs summer 2016.

What GPA did you apply with for both intakes?

You should definitely try BCIT as well since you have so many volunteer hours in a healthcare setting!

Bump!

I have applied with a 3.5. This is the same GPA I was waitlisted for with the old requirements but fingers crossed this time. People have been saying the cutoff was 3.8 the last couple of intakes but it looks from another thread that this coming Jan intake at least one person got in without a degree with a 3.3, so here's hoping!

Good luck! Are you taking any courses while we wait to hear back?

I just got my final grades back for 1191 so I will be applying to this intake with a 4.0 on the prereqs!

I had registered to retake 1190, to increase chances for January in case I don't get in in September, but I surprised myself with my mark in 1191 and so I've decided to take my chances with what I've got...even though its the same GPA I applied with for fall 1016 unsuccessfully. I imagine the scenario that I retake 1190 and don't find out I am accepted until its too late to withdraw and am forced to finish it again...nightmare! Anyways, you'll get in with a 4.0. I found another post yesterday from the Jan intake thread and someone there got in with a 3.0. I understand January is less competitive, but it seems like the new requirements have brought the threshold down a little. Hopefully it wasn't just a freak easy intake, haha.

For those who are curious... I'm applying with a 3.8 GPA.

I'm going to go back as a first year student and not bridge (long, infuriating story). Also, Langara only has 7 bridging seats.

Hi future RNs! Do you think I should retake some prereq courses with a GPA of 3.86? English @ Langara really brought my GPA down (it's one of those courses where either you have it or you don't). I really don't want to waste money, yet I don't want to wait another year--you know?

Also, do you think I have a chance at BCIT? I have the volunteer hours, yet I learned they only accept candidates with degrees.

I think you will be fine with a 3.86 GPA. :)

Hey guys what do you think about a 3.82? Is it going to be okay ??
