I have been finding differences in the lab value ratios between books. For instance the Saunders book states that Magnesium is 1.6-2.6 and my RNotes pocket guide states that it is 1.5-2.0. There are other differences like this in other books also. I was wondering which is the true and correct lab value. I am taking the nclex tomorrow and if I get these kind of questions I want to be sure too know the correct lab value.
Any ideas or suggestions from anyone would be greatly appreciated!!!!

In reality, reference ranges are set by individual laboratories. I wouldn't worry about splitting hairs by one or two tenths though. At least from my own experience, any lab value derangements you see on the NCLEX should be significant enough for you to know there's a problem.

I have the same concern. But I found that the abnormal lab value in the questions are usually far beyond any range of the normal value you learned. So I just go with the one that is easier for me to remember.
I'll take the test tomorrow too. Good luck to both of us!
I am sure you are right EricEnfermero, I am of course obsessing about the exam. Your insight is appreciated!
Good luck to you also Sfcwtu!!!
