Two friends from HS just graduated from their main campus BSN program. What do you want to know?

I attend the Kent Tusc Campus and if all goes well and I am accepted into the program right away, I will start in the fall of 2011. I see a lot of people talk about A & P 1&2 classes and I see that jsut about every college has this class, but Kent does not. Is the Biological Structure and Function class equivalent to the A & P classes that everyone else takes?

Yes that is their version of Anatomy & Physiology. You have to take both to have it transfer in as that class. However, their class will not transfer as A&P to any other school... just an FYI. For the BSN program at the main campus, they will let you take A&P in place of Structure & Function if you wish (and I would recommend it if you can).

How do you figure out what the admission requirements are for the ADN program at the branch campus? I've gone to their website and they tell you what the Program Requirements are but there isn't much detail. No information on course prerequisites, admission exams, application dates, start dates, gpa requirements, etc. I'm looking to start nursing school ASAP!!

The sheet I found (a pdf) said the minimum gpa is 2.0.

So your basically saying that I could never transfer this Structure and Function class to another college that requires A&P? Did your friends say if the Structure and Function class was hard? I start on the 19th. I do not think that I will ever need the A&P classes because I want an Associates degree and the other colleges around me only offers Bachelors except for Stark State and they have a several year waiting list so I have to get into Kent Tusc. If later in life I want to get my Bachelors, then I can go to Kent Stark.

For all the schools I've looked at, that is correct. For example, The University of Akron gives you 2 credit hours in A&P I as transfer credit and that is it. You'd have to re take the full year sequence to get complete credit.

So if you get your BSN at Kent State, you are golden. If you ever need/want to go to any other school, you will need to take A&P I/II.

I think I will stay with Kent the whole way!

Let me know what you think of BSCI 20020. I always wondered how in depth it went into anatomy/physiology. I cannot imagine working in any health care field without a solid in depth knowledge of human anatomy!!

Actually, they have raised the GPA two times. It is now 2.7 and before 2008 it was 2.5.

The prerequisites for the ADN program are the exact same as the accelerated BSN program (except the BSN only requires a 2.5 GPA). Seems to me that if I am going to go to all the effort of taking the rest of the prerequisites, I might as well get my BSN in 15 months! Thoughts?

If your able to get your BSN in 15 months, then I would do it. I personally did not look into getting my BSN because we have four children and I wanted to get done with school ASAP. Currently, it will take me two years to get my prereqs completed...all 11 of them. Then two years for the nursing program. As it stands now (if I get in right away) I will graduate in 2013.
