Kaplan in Vista, CA

Published

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about Kaplan College. I want to attend Kaplan but from my understanding, none of their classes are accredited so you would have to take most of the classes over again once you are done with that school and transfer to MiraCosta or Palomar College.

I'm not sure paying $30K is worth it? People are telling me not to do it but I think it's better than being on the waiting list for 5 years to become a RN or 4 years to become a LVN... Any info on Kaplan would be greatful!:redbeathe

hi yes i went to a info session yesterday and what i can tell you is that the school is accredited but there classes are only transferable to other private universities basically, like university of phoenix. anyways the program is $57,000 and it will be less if you are an LVN. you can transfer in classes from community college which will bring tuition down even more, like me i am LVN so my price will be less and time in program will be 4 months less because of the lvn. they have lvn program too but i dont know cost.

I went and talked to a counselor at Palomar College and she said that if you are looking in to transferring to Cal State San Marcos, don't go to Kaplan because none of their classes are transferable and Cal State won't accept you. Also, the students that attend Kaplan and transfer to Palomar for their RN program, they don't do too well in their RN program. I have spoken with a couple of people at Kaplan... they said it'll be about $30,000 for LVN... I think I will just take the long route... Thank you for your time though! I really appreciate it!
