Kaplan Readiness Test

Published

Hi all. I just have a question about the Kaplan Readiness Test. When I took the Kaplan course (at my school), I got a borderline (near passing) on the readiness test. I was just curious to know if anyone got borderline on their readiness test and still passed the NCLEX. I've been practicing Q-bank and Question Trainer (1,2,3 and 5) and have gotten 50's-60's on the Q-bank and 60's on the question trainer. Thanks!

Thank You for your reply to my post, i actually got a tad below borderline and passed nclex, i was getting juat like you 60s and 70s on the q bank, and the question trainers 6 and 7 my scores ranged from 60-81. i think kaplan states you should be getting around 60-65 on the test. One time i actually got 52, i just did like 300-400 questions a day, and read the kaplan book for about 2 hours, that was just what i did everyone is different. and i passed it the first time. I think you will be fine just keep practicing, you will never feel ready....i just got tired of getting headaches thinking about it, you know it just use it, and rock the nclex the first time.:twocents:

Thanks for the reply and congratulations again! Yeah..im getting sick and tired of doing questions....i do AT LEAST 100 questions a day..doing questions in the Q-bank. i think ill do question trainer tomorrow of wednesday..i have alittle over a week left, so any "last minute" advice is greatly appreciated.

Hey,

I scored borderline (just shy if passing range) on both kaplan diagnostic exams, one before taking kaplan review & one after. I scored exactly the same, which I expexted b/c I believe Kaplan was not very helpful & actually credit the examcram RN book I bought seperately. I was also scoring 60-70 on the question trainers. A bunch of friends that took Kaplan with me were borderline and/or just under borderline and passed NCLEX. One friend who scored very high passing on the diagnostic exams ironically just failed the NCLEX. I wouldn't put as much emphasis on your score as working on your weak areas & keep practicing those study questions! Exam cram has an excellent CAT RN format for the CD-Rom which comes with the book.

Oh forgot to mention... I passed NCLEX last week, so don't stress!!!

Took kaplan, found what helped me most was going back over the test questions both the ones that I got right and the ones that I got wrong. Just to find the rationale behind the answers. If there was a topic that was not explained well by kaplan I took my Saunders book to review it. My scores were from 54-65, tried to take questions in Q-bank that I had not take before. Passed NCLEX with 75 questions.

Reserve teh question trainer tests 5-7 till the week before your test. Do them and finish all the rationales. You can do one test per day(in the moring and do the review of rationales of missed and correct ones in the evening/night. i found it very helpful. Although high grades are good, but like posted up there, it's not so much about scoring high, it's actually being able to understand it and also know how to walk your way to the right answer. I can attest that two of my classmates didn't even pass both the diagnostic and readiness test but both passed with 75 questions. Be rest assured that you'll pass, just continue doing your questions and know that others had the same thing and still passed.I wish you all the BEST! Goodluck on your nclex!
