Hello,
I am an RN in Virginia. I have 10 years experience. My dream was to be an NP. I got accepted twice to a university near me, but life happened. I had a baby and the second time, I could not afford it.
I am on fire to go back to school and do this. I looked up online programs that can start at anytime.
My question is, is Kaplan reputable enough that I'd even get hired? Virginia accepts their cert. And, has anyone here been through the program with success?
I do ok financially but I have 2 daughters that I must do better for. My husband died so it's just me. Is there a substantial pay increase?
Thank you.

Please don't go to a for profit school. They don't have the best reputations and are very expensive. Look into reputable local programs that have an online component, and will help you find preceptors. Schools like Simmons and Georgetown have well known programs that can be done online.
My condolences on the loss of your husband. I wish you the best.

FYI:
OP you would probably be wise to steer clear of this "industry" regardless of the sweet-talk and we care about you and all schools are alike sell.

As BC said, I would not do kaplan. they pray on people in your situation (very sorry about your husband )
I would trust kaplan for their review books but would never get a degree from them.
Pick out a program that has this good stuff:
1. not for profit
2. state school if possible
3. provides preceptor placement
4. good reputation
5. doesnt have a ton of nursing theory junk classes
6. tuition less than 40k
7. network with docs and nps around your area
Good luck!
