Kaplan Courses

Im thinking about taking one of the Kaplan NCLEX review courses in June before I take my boards. My questions are:

1. If you took the course and have taken your boards, how well do you think it prepared you?

2. Do you think the "in classroom" or "classroom anywhere" were more effective?

Thanks!

1. I was not prepared taking my board after doing Kaplan. I really thought Kaplan will teach me some content, but they're not. I was surprised when I went to the classroom, we only have questions all day then decision tree (will be explained on the first day) then rationales. And then that's it, everything will be online. Kaplan will be good if you master or know a lot on your content. Kaplan focuses on test taking strategies only.

2. I think "in classroom" is better because you can interact personally, make friends share ideas and you will feel more motivated because of your environment. You're around people that will take the same exam as you.

I've read other posts similar to Nesty's. Kaplan instructors may not be able to answer student questions. You might get more from the Hurst course.

I've also been considering taking the NCLEX prep course through Kaplan this June. I've actually read a lot of good things about them through similar threads and I'd be interested in hearing if those who've taken the course in the past year or two found it to be helpful or not and why (It's kind of pricey and I just want to be sure I'm not wasting my money!)

Thanks!

Im taking Kaplan On demand right now and gonna take in June. I heard that kaplan questions are like nclex questions. so it would be good if you'll be familiarized with the questions and also saunders for my content topics and lacharity book.

I took the kaplan course last year, both the "in classroom" and the online course. For me, the online course was better than "in classroom". That's because the whole session in the classroom was just about answering the questions which you can find in the q banks by the way, and the rationales are also in the q banks. I asked myself before, what's the whole point of going to the classroom if you can do it yourself in the computer??? i dont like our instructor that time also. It's boring for me.

Unlike in "classroom anywhere", we were able to interact with other classmates from other countries and you will be able to ask questions from them and the teacher was great.he was very patient and was able to answer our questions..and other instructors were also there to answer if you have trouble or did not get the rationale of the questions. And it was not boring too.

Its my own opinion and experience, maybe other people find the "in classroom" better than i do.but for me,"classroom anywhere" is better.
