Just got accepted and nervous about the program!

Hey everyone! I just was accepted to a nursing program beginning this Sept. I have an 8 month and a hubby looking for a job. I still will need work at least 2-3 shifts (I'm a cocktailer/bartender and am so nervous that I will not be able to work and still be a mom/wife. My sched is M-th including labs and clinicals but it seems I will only have time to work Fri & Sat! How did you all balance school, work and family while attending nursing school??? I'm so excited and scared all at the same time!

Your school sounds very similar to mine. There are many working parents in my program and even single parents. It's hard, and there are days where they come in class exhausted because their kids couldn't sleep, were sick, etc etc.

As long as you organize yourself and have a buddy in class that can help you, even with the slightest thing as calling you in case you over sleep, it can help. Be optimistic! The hardest part was getting in.. you just have to maintain being in the program. Have your family help too.. You need alllll the support you can get. GOOD LUCK and stay positive! :)

I agree with Katherine112, find a buddy and get organized. Once you get into a routine it's not that bad. About half of my classmates (maybe more) have children and work also. Some of them are single parents and some of them are military with deployed spouses, so it can be done. Just find a system that works for you and it will all come together. Good luck!
