Just curious...

Hi all,

I'm a pre-nursing student who will be submitting an application to a university's nursing program this month.  Lately, I've been on allnurses looking at a few posts, and I'm wondering--how did you study for and retain information from A&P and Microbiology?  I'm trying to nail my time management down before I get into the nursing program, and I remember certain things, but I'm a bit iffy on some topics.  I've seen that handwritten notes are best for memory, but I'm an incredibly slow note-taker when it comes to that, and I think that prevents me from being able to fully understand all that I'm learning.  So what should I do?  I don't want to be a crap nurse, and I really want to remember what I learn from them.

(I am delirious writing this, so hopefully my post makes sense.)

If you are a slow note-taker, I would ask your professors if you can record their lectures. This way, you can listen again and finish your notes later. There are also AI tools available that can transcribe audio from Zoom or other recordings and even generate summaries of your notes. I hope that helps.

One thing that helped me was rewriting my notes and adding to them from my textbook!  I also found my medical terminology course helped a ton. You can make flashcards or go online and use quizlet.  I have found most professors don't mind if you record the lecture.  If you're not as strong in say A&P go on Amazon and get the A&P for dummies!  I did that for classes that weren't my strong suit.
