Are you an LPN already?

I am just wondering if you have to be an RN for travel nursing? I would really like to work in the Ft. Worth area - I live about an hour away! I would like double shifts on weekends so I could be home on weekdays for my kids... any ideas on who would hire for that?

If you do hospital nursing some places have weekend programs. 12 hours sat and sun and get paid for 3.

I worked as a travel nurse in New York City 2 years ago. I was a RN, but I met an LVN in my apartment building who was working as a travel nurse. I can't remember who she worked for, but I worked for American Mobile Healthcare. I have never heard of an assignment that only required weekends. It has been my experience (and others) that you sign on for 13 week assignments and work 40 hr/wk including 2 weekends per month. Also, most of the jobs available are the graveyard shifts, unless you work in the ER or ICU. Something else, there's a reason that hospitals are having to use travel nurses. You might very well end up in an environment where no one else wants to work. I'm glad I did it though, because living in NYC was a BLAST!
