Where abouts in VIC are you moving? Have you considered applying for a rural area? They can be an opportunity to gain more experience and can provide opportunities for further education. For example the one I am employed at requires you to do some aged care but also has an Acute Ward and Urgent care department and are desperate for staff. In terms of larger hospitals often casual banks are the best way to get a foot in the door.

I spend half my time in a rural area and from the local university only 1/3 of these graduates, were given jobs at the local regional hospital this year. Many ended up going to the city or going more rural to nursing homes. The only jobs they advertise are for ANUN NUM in mental health. Previous poster must be not from our area.

You will need to be very aggressive in your applications as are the nurses from a certain o,seas country. They send applications to the HR of every health care facility plus the receptionist And Gardner. The nurse bank at hospitals will be a sure way of getting a foot in the door, Good luck.

Thanks for your comments :) so far I haven't had any luck even getting an interview. I keep hitting the 'must have two years experience' brick wall. I'm starting to wonder if dropping off my resume to HR in person would have any benefits?
