I've been working in long term care for a number of years and I just accepted a position on a geriatric psychiatric unit at a hospital can any one give me information on what its is like to work on a mental health unit or material I could review to make my transition successful?

I am sure you will find your new job very rewarding. I worked at a psychiatric hospital for about 11 years and found it to be interesting. One of the things you need to know very well is to listen and be very observant of behaviors at all times. Also, sometimes we get "caught up in the mental issues" but overlook the physical problems. Good luck in your new job
