Job advice in US

Published

hello

I have just reloactaed to the Atlanta Area from the UK with my partner. I wanted to know if any one knew of any agencies in the area that could help me to get sponsorship to work here inthe US.

Thanks in Advance

Lynda

I moved your post to the International forum as it is more appropriate there. You have a completely different set of issues to deal with.

First, when did you graduate? If fairly recently, you will need to make up the other hours. Or do you already have a license to practice in the US? The other issue is what type of visa are you currently on? Did you come on a visa waiver which permits you to stay for up to three months? If so, you will not be able to do anything with that type of visa. You must have an actual visa stamped in your passport in order for it to be adjusted, Adjustment of Status. Do you have a Visa Screen Cetificate yet?

Please let me know where you fit in to the above, then I can suggest what you need to do next.

Thanks for your reply

I have been a nurse for 24 years.

At the moment I am here on the visa waiver & I understand that I cannot work on this. I am back in the UK in May so I would like to know what I would need to do to be able to work here in the US.

Are there any agencies that can Sponsor a visa application

Thank you

You first need to apply for a regular tourist visa to be able to go thru the process over here. And that needs to be taken care of while you are in the UK. Not sure if you are aware of the process that needs to be followed afterwards. You will need to be in the US for at least 60 days before a hospital or agency can submit an Adjustment of Status for you, then it will be another 2 1/2 months or so before you would be able to begin work.

Have you actually taken the NCLEX exam yet? If not, there is not one thing that anyone can do until you get that completed, no petition can be filed until you get that done, and you have not mentioned it.

Where are you in terms of that, as well as the Visa Screen Certificate?

Specializes in Oncology/Haemetology/HIV.

You might be better off in another state.

While GA has a nursing shortage, it is not nearly as acute there as it is in other states. As such, it may be more difficult to get a facility to sponsor you there than perhaps other states.
