JCAHO help for newbies?

I finally got a job, but it requires some self teaching to say the least. They have a JCAHO report due in a few weeks and don't really know what is needed/why/how/when/basically anything. I spent my first day trying to speed read through the JCAHO instructions and manuals. I need some help! Can anyone point me in the some direction in plain english? It's home health. Please? :D

I find it very hard to believe that they expect you to complete a critical JC report! If you are the most JC-knowledgeable person at this organization, I would advise you to keep on looking for another job because they're headed for disaster. You need to get a copy of the last survey results - it will outline exactly what the 'gap' was and what they expect to happen to fix it.

JC regs are not difficult to understand if you have the right reference materials. You need to look in the part of your manual that has examples of compliance. The examples are easy to understand, and you can base your information on them. However - the report MUST reflect what is actually happening at the organization; it can't be fiction. If JC discovers that any information has been falsified, the organization will lose accreditation pretty much instantaneously and there may be civil penalties for anyone who is involved with the fraudelent activity.

I've been looking, this is the best it gets for new grads these days. We're the bottom of the barrel and seem to be considered as useful as used gloves. My husband and I expect I will be laid off once the report is complete next month. :( Especially if they don't get to keep their accreditation. I would never, under any circumstance falsify anything, they haven't asked or even hinted at such a thing. They just don't have a good grasp on the situation despite my efforts. It's either I do it or the DON and she hasn't much more knowledge than me. I'll see if I can dig up the old reports for guidance. Thanks.
