It's FINALLY here!!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Thats right ladies and gentlemen the day we have all been waiting for is finally arriving. On Wednesday October 12th at 1pm in Philly I will be taking the NCLEX. I graduated from Villanova in Aug and we I will finally find out if the 80K in debt I accumulated will be worth it.

Basically now I am just reviewing basic body systems, diseases and meds. Also going over the MOST important interventions for the nurse to follow in each group. I feel like 90% of the questions are all "What should the nurse do FIRST, or MOST important"

ANy last tips or suggestions??? All are welcome and greatly appreciated ...... Time to get after it!!!

Specializes in Med/Surg, DSU, Ortho, Onc, Psych.

I'm not in the US, but probly best 2 look at scenarios. One I got was:

all other nurses are doing urgent tasks; others are in the tea room etc, so u have no help. You are alone on the ward. A post gastro-op patient is bleeding out FAST - what do you do?

Think of what u do to stop bleeding, calling for help, start CPR if patient arrests, etc.

Scenarios for our essays were big here. I'd brush up on all your first aid emergency stuff. When u give yourself scenarios it forces u to think more laterally, or outside the box.

Best of luck.

Thats not a bad idea, thx for the idea.

In that situation I guess you would have to take measures in your own hand and pick and answer that has the RN(you) take responsibility in stopping the bleeding. What was the answer?

Also did you say that you have an essay section on the NCLEX? Is that something they do Internationally? In the US we have strictly multiple choice questions that vary in difficulty, from knowledge base to application.

Congrats on graduating from 'Nova. . One of my staff's family was in the class, so know its not easy. Moved thread to NCLEX forum for best advice and tips.

Best wishes on trying to land a positon in this very tight market.

Thank you very much and yes "nova was difficult but I think they have prepared us very well for the NCLEX. Everybody that I have spoken to has passed the NCLEX under 100 questions with most finishing in 75. Thats very encouraging and keeps a positive attitude during the stresses of studying.
