It's Finally Over

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I just graduated from nursing school this May with a BSN and was eager to take the NCLEX-RN so I could start my new job. I was fortunate enough to land one of two GN positions in the oncology department at a very respected hospital that I desperately wanted to work for.

I took the NCLEX in June of this year--making sure I had enough time to get my results in before the residency program began in July. Came home, found allnurses.com and tried the ever-sought-after pearson vue trick. Hoping I was too early to try it or that my results were possibly on hold, I quickly found out I had failed in 78 questions.

Needless to say, I was in shock. Coming off of cloud nine from graduating nursing school made the NCLEX seem to be an easily tangible feat for me. I studied my usually eighty hours, but still came to fail. I called the manager of the floor I was intended to work and notified her of my failure. Dream job, gone.

After not leaving the house for a week, I slowly picked myself up, re-registered and began to study once again. Took the dreadful NCLEX just this morning. Blue screen right after answering question 75. My heart dropped to my feet. The questions made me feel like I was being beat up over and over again, left hyperventilating on the floor. To my surprise, I received the good pop up.. all twelve times I have checked it in the last hour.

Now I may have lost the job I have always wanted and felt the bottom of the failure pool, but the joy of passing in 75 after failing in 78 will do for now. I'm sure it'll be funny in five years. But, it's FINALLY over. No more studying or stressing over NCLEX.

I hope this might pick someone up, because some posts were there when I needed them.

Thank you for sharing!!! I went through the same thing. Just now picking myself up to studying again. I hear these success stories and they are truly motivating for me! Thanks again
