Im leaning towards ISU over excelsior and would love to hear from anyone regarding ISU's distance learning!! I THINK (ive been on the fence for a year) Im going to do my prereqs at my community college (80 a credit hour) Then transfer over to ISU (285 a credit hour) Im doing this because Im gonna need alot of prereqs because I dropped out of highschool :( and it will be much cheaper. Any thoughts or opinions are much appreciated!!

The only drawback to ISU that I can see will be problems in getting clinical placements. Nobody seems to be doing it where I am. I asked about this awhile back and got no responses.

Well the guy I spoke with said I can do some of them where I work (LTC). I have to go to a hospital for psych and peds. I have NO desire to work in any hospital except my local childerns hospital. So I dont mind doing my clinicals at my job.

ISU is quite expensive.

Are you already an RN doing the BSN? If an LPN, why not consider Excelsior?

Im an LPN, but Im going to go for my masters eventually anyway. So I figure I'll go straight for my BSN. ISU will cost me about $13,000. My job pays 2,000 a year and I qualify for grants. Sooooo hopefully Ill be okay, I HATE paying student loans and really wanna avoid them at all cost. But thats not very realistic :) Plus with excelsior I dont like the idea of no clinicals. That clinical test at the end just freaks me out!! I'd rather do them as I go. Kudos to the people who make it through that CPNE test!! Ive been back and forth on the pros and cons of both for about a year!! Ive finally made up my mind
