Just out of curiosity, is there competition at ur work place?

I haven't experienced the kind of competition you describe, altho I know of some docs who just 'like' to admit their patients to their favorite unit...reardless of whether they meet admission criteria.

I've experienced some pretty nasty battles between shifts , individual nurses; and at a recent contract, the respiratory therapists thought they were in charge of the nursing staff and tried to supervise and direct them...pretty ugly stuff can go on.
