I received a fancy letter today from the International Scholar Laureate Program. Supposedly I can learn and enrich myself in South Africa this summer, for about $5000.00 Does anyone know if this is a legitimate learning experience? Will it look good on my nursing school applications or will I get laughed at? It sounds too good to be true, but on the other hand, it's something that I may be able to do only once in my lifetime.
If you have done this trip, or know someone who has, please let me know as soon as you can.
Thanks!
Laura:)

Sorry, but it will not make one difference on your application, other than showing that you like to travel.
Any program that has fees like that for a trip are only putting the money into their own pocket. It also does not cost $5000 f0r a trip to Afrcia unless you are going on a safari, etc. And I can promise that you would not be doing that on this trip.
In a single phrase, save your money.:)
Thanks for your input!:)
