It's great to hear some encouraging words. I really do want this--for a lot of reasons. My dd (6--will be 9 when I start the program) is still hesitant to be supportive but I know she'll come around. She's the one thing I worry about. There isn't an opportunity to cut down on hours--I need the health insurance--but the online program seems kind of geared toward the working student. Clinicals are at night and on weekends even. I know it will be good!! I am really getting excited to start--it seems so far away, though!

Ugh, I just typed a long response and then lost it!

As I was saying....I worked as a massage therapist for many years (self employed) before taking my current job. DH is self employed as well and he is the one that "pays the bills". I pretty much work for health insurance. If we were to buy it outright we would pay close to $1000/mo. We actually went 3 years w/o health insurance but I don't want to go back there again to be sure. We have agreed that I maintain the health insurance. Plus I LOVE my job. I work as a rehab assistant overseeing pt,ot,st, wound care and diabetes management. I support the departments clerically and do some patient care--vitals, some dressing removal and rudimentary wound cleaning (supervised of course). It is a great job and they are beyond supportive. In fact, it was my supervisor that encouraged me to go to nursing school. I was doing prereqs when I started at this job and she said she wasn't sure why I quit...she stated that she needs me as part of her nursing staff and, whenever I was ready, she'd make it happen. How can I pass that up?

Nursing has always been my dream...now, to just make it a reality!

I am doing it right now I am taking a Minimum of 12 credits per semester with my last semester being 9 credits (my last ones.) I work an average of 47 hours per week. as an LPN in a LTC Facility some days I have school 8 till 2 and go to work at 2:30 until 11 or 12. Then I do my home work in the morning and work again that night. Yes I am married and have 2 older children that help out a lot. My husband is fantastic he Keeps it all working. I have to work as I am the one who has the Health insurance. … I graduate in May of 2007. YOU HAVE to stay on top of the homework, Know when things are due. When you sit down in the eve you have to have the Books there so you can study. I always have something with to study.
