Greetings, I am currently an AEMT and enrolled in college courses, I have an application in for my AAS-Paramedic Degree at my local college. However; Do not take this the wrong way but as a backup plan if I am not accepted into My AAS-paramedic program I am thinking of putting in an application to LPN school. My end Goal is Paramedic/RN, I Guess my main concern is as an LPN will I have a hard time finding acceptance into an LPN to RN program I have ABSOLUTELY no desire to stay at the LPN level because I enjoy taking care of acute care and high acuity patients. Any thoughts and just as a side note the LPN program at my local community college only runs about $8000 for the entire program.
Thanks

Advice from a Medic/RN... If your end goal is Paramedic & RN then the 8k could be better invested elsewhere... If you are planning on planning on a BSN degree and you don't happen to get selected for the Paramedic program, then it would be better to take those college courses that would be prereqs for a BSN program... depending on how many credit you have currently this may allow you to apply to both the Paramedic program and Nursing program next cycle.

LVNs in my area are employed in LTACHs also... very much acute care, including vents and such. The patients just have longer stays. Some hospitals are also re-introducing LVNs in new models of care delivery - care teams led by RNs.
