Nursing has always been my dream career ever since middle school. However my grades are discouraging me to continue on this path. Its hard for me to get into any program and I have done so much research on the LPN programs around my area. I have been taking pre reqs for 4 years. Took me this long only because ive been working full time and I take a class or two at a time. I have to work because I am supporting myself. Seems like I am just wasting my time and makes me want to change my career choice but nursing is really what I want to do in life! I love helping others and I totally loved the CNA program. I want to know others opinions on what can help me out and if theres any hope out there for me. I just feel so hopeless and miserable .

There is NOTHING wrong with taking classes slowly and working. That shouldn't discourage you.
When you say your grades are discouraging, is that because you are averaging in the 2.somethings or because you are not getting the grades that you want or what?
Averaging around 2.5 ish. :/ I am really bad at exams which makes up a majority of my grades. However, I feel like I will work so well in this field. I love working with other people and I want to help others.

I totally understand how you feel because I have been taking pre-req classes since Fall of 2010 and I'll most likely apply in Spring of 2014, but I have to remind myself that it will be worth it in the end. I also like to help people. I think you should not discourage yourself because you have been on this for 4 years already and will be there some day. Think about how you felt when you first decided to do nursing, you were probably happy and motivated. You will get there just like me slowly but surely one day... :)

My situation is a little different because I'm not working full-time currently. After highschool I went to a fancy college to study Aviation Management. Two years into the program it was clear to me that I was not on the path I wanted to be on. Nursing had always been a strong interest for me so I decided to follow my heart, even though my wallet disagreed. I moved back home, switched schools, and now I am a Junior in my nursing program. 100% the best decision I've ever made. I think that if your heart is telling you that nursing is what you want to do, then fight for it. You are already on your path even though the destination may seem a little fuzzy right now. Keep going! There is hope!

I'm sorry but Nursing School is like 1-2 exams a week! You're going to have to brush up on those test taking skills.
Thank you everyone for all the motivating words! Hopefully I get there soon and time flies! Lol
