I'm seriously considering CRNA school but I already have an MSN (I'm a Family Nurse Practitioner but also work 24 hours a week in a combo SICU/MICU) so I would need a certificate program. Is anyone out there in such a program and where and how are you doing?

BTW, I've not been an allnurses.com person for that long but am already addicted to it, especially this forum!! You guys rule and have already answered a lot of my questions about the SRNA/CRNA world........ :p

i'm in the kaiser program and we have 2 nps in my class. they already have a masters so they dont have to take alot of the classes the rest of us take.

Oakland's program has a post master's certificate and you wouldn't have to take the extra nursing courses either.

thanks for the heads-up on Oakland U - do you know anyone in that program?

Oakland University/Beaumont Graduate Program of Nurse Anesthesia has a Post Masters Certificate Program. The duration of the program is the same as the Masters Program but you have 15 credits fewer to take (MSN/research core).

Hi,

I'm entering the post-master's at UNCC in August. It will save me 6 hours in each of my first two semesters (10 hours instead of 16), in a didactically front-loaded program. No nursing theory or research to repeat!!

I honestly think you should stay in state if you can. Save money. Especially if you want to stay in that area. Everyone takes the same exam. I truly beleive the quality of your education comes from what YOU put into it, not where you go. (I am at VCU in Virginia)
