Hi!!
I actually took the HESI A2 and applied today. This is going to be a long 4 months waiting to find out if I get in.
Have you taken the HESI yet?
Hey,
The test I think was close in some aspects to the guide. Did you get the guide that they recommend that is at the TC bookstore?
One thing I did though is at the school they have an education assistance center. They can really help with the math portion.
I think I got an easy test when I took the HESI today. You have 3 hours to take it, there is no time limit per section, it's 3 hours overall so you can spend more time on one section than the other if needed.
When I took it there was very little formula conversions...a few things like one question was how many Liters in 5000mL? easy, 5. For the most part the math is all multiple choice but there are a few parts where you have to manually enter in a number. You do not have to liters or inches or anything next to it, just the number.
Other than that it was mostly add, subtract, multiply, divide...all that for fractions and decimals and some proportions and ratios....each section (math, reading comp, and vocab) is 55 questions.
I got a 96% on the math, 88 on the reading (I thought I would do better), and 98 on the vocab (I thought I was gonna suck).
The vocab to me was not to hard, know the words in that book because it will probably help. If you are good at spelling most words or being able to read something and pick the best word that fits, you shouldn't have a problem with the vocab.
I know you are in waco but if you get a chance I would suggest to stop by the EAC center at TC, unless your really good at math. They are open for the math from 8 to 12 monday through thursday...or every monday from 6pm till 8 pm. I can't say enough about the help they gave for the math, without that help I think I would have failed the math portion, helps that I catch on fast :)
If you have any other questions let me know, I hope you do good, let me know what you get when you take it.
Thanks,
I'm sure you'll do fine. I was nervous too but I got there when they opened so I was a little tired and relaxed ...stay relaxed and take your time. They give you paper and pencil for the math, no calculator of course...but as long as you keep those things above fresh in your mind you'll be fine...the vocab was nothing hard...the only thing I really remember that seemed more medical term than anything was concave...everything else was normal stuff.
Reply back when you get your score and let me know how you did. Good luck!
Moment of truth....did you take your HESI today? If so how'd you do?

I am also applying for the LVN program that begins Summer 2012. I got an overall score of 87% on the HESI. Good luck to you all :) Too bad we have to wait till Feb to find out... Wish it was sooner!
