I'm new to wound care and I had a question. When you are packing with iodoform strips do you need to wet the the strips? order just says pack with iodoform strips BID.

just pack it with the iodoform, wetting it will remove the betadine, you will see when you go to pack it that the strip is not actually dry.

No need to wet ---product itself is betadine added to plain packing strip and will transfer betadine to wound via osmosis and slightly absorb wound bed drainage. Wounds should be lightly packed to allow for this transfer action to occur and prevent pressure on wound edges/wound bed.

I agree with nrskaren, my wound care exp. I have never wet Iodoform unless the MD specifically requests it, b/c it removes the betadine
