I have an interview tomorrow at 10 at the largest hopital in the area. 603+ beds. I have an interview with the nurse manager of the ortho floor. I'm really nervous, any pointers? I am going to buy a suit tonight and get a haircut into a cute layered bob. still need some pointers though!!

Get there 15 minutes early - I lost a job offer once because I was 2 minutes late
Bring a portfolio - they like to see that you are organized and make sure you tell them it shows how determined you are, not so much that it's all about you & your accomplishments (will sound too self-confident if you do)
Concentrate on the "patient" in your answers - from your clinicals or prior jobs (exp. instead of saying how a quick learner you are, explain how you taught a patient once and helped them learn about their disorder or cares)
Brush up on behavioral questions - exp. Name a time where you had to be part of a change and what was your position in that change and what was the result of it?
Brush up on clinical questions - exp. How would you document a dressing change? What would you do if you had a Heparin drip order and you felt the amount prescribed was wrong?
Make sure to asks questions back - exp. What is your ratio? Do you have electronic MARs or paper documenting? Do you have a Charge Nurse? How involved is the Charge Nurse with my training? How does your preceptorship work? How long is it? Are the nurses willing to teach me as a New Grad RN?
Tell them how passionate you are about being a nurse AND how much you want to work for their facility and why you want to work for them - they want to make sure you don't scoot out to another hosp as soon as you have 1 year experience
And last but not least, make sure to smile and shake their hand firmly - be confident but don't act like you know everything, let them know you are willing to learn something new everyday!
Good luck! I hope some of this helps. It all worked for me! Just got a PCU job (what I wanted) as an RN intern and love it!
thank you so much. They already told me to be there 15-20 minutes early in HR because they had some paperwork for me then they would take me to the nursing manager. Oh I soooooo hope I get this job. I figured I would be there at least a half of an hour early so that I can get my directions. I didn't do a lot of clinical in this hospital. But I did do 3 rotations in ortho and this is for the ortho floor so I hope this will be to my advantage. Anywho thanks again for the tips I appreciate it!
