Interview tomorrow for PACU

Suggestions?

Thoughts?

I hope to do well at the interview although I'm not thrilled at the idea of part time and 4 six hour shifts weekly. Prefer two or three 12 hour shifts but am excited at this entry level opportunity into PACU and hope the interview goes well.

There seem to be very few position in PACU that open up at the hospital so it must be a good place to work.

My experiences are in quite a few areas of nursing. Hospice and Palliative Care (Certified), Case Management (Sit for certification this April), Med/Surg Telemetry, and for the past year Corrections Nursing...

I think my favorite was Med-Surg Telemetry simply because of the pace. The days would seem to pass quickly and there was always something to do.

I have my BSN, BLS, ACLS. PALS is required in this position within a year. My husband is a BSN RN in the ER and has his PALS. He can help me through.

Any helpful ideas for how to ace the interview would be greatly appreciated. I'm ready to be back in the hospital environment. (Except for the parking...lol)

How did it go? I also have an interview coming up. Wondering as well if I should expect many questions specific to practicing in PACU...

How did it go?

For my interview I asked things like what kind of surgeries did they do, what was the nurse turnover like, I also asked to shadow a nurse. The only reason they let me is because I was already in employee of that hospital. But I was going from OB labor and delivery to PACU, so obviously two totally different worlds. And it has taken a lot to get used to working five days a week compared to working 2 to 3 12 hour shifts a week...

i may be interviewing for a casual pacu position soon aswell...wondering what kind of questions i may be asked...and what i should ask

My interview questions were pretty much general personality/work ethic type questions that you might be asked in any interview. I wasn't asked anything specific to working in PACU or critical care scenarios.

I asked a few questions regarding scheduling & orientation but most things I wondered about were answered up front. This was also an internal transfer, so I didn't have questions like one might have for a new employer.

Got the job!
