hey all.. i'm sure this will sound repetetive, but i have been invited to interview with georgetown october 20 and am wondering if anyone could provide some info regarding the interview process and what to expect, as well as if anyone knows about/is involved with the georgetown program..

also, is it necessary to have a car while in school? during interview, is it potentially detrimental to answer a 'how do you plan to pay for college' question with 'loans, loans, and then some' answer? i apologize for jumping around.. any info greatly appreciated and thanks in advance..

Look at the top of the nurse anesthetist forum. You will find a sub-forum specifically for pre-CRNAs with answers to your questions.

I don't know anything about that program, but since I am in CRNA school right now I can tell you that you will definitely need a car, especially during the clinical portion. I guess that it might possible to get by without one, but it would make it so much easier seeing as you will be going to clinical very early in the morning and leaving at varying times of the day. And as to the question they might ask you about financing your education, I would try to save some money if you can now. If the interviewer knows that you have taken the time and personal responsibility to build up some money in a bank account, they will think more highly of you. (Please realize that it is not very likely that you will be able to save enough money to finance even half of school finances, but to have some money saved just in case is something happens.)

Hope this helps,

preCRNA

Sorry I don't know anything specifically about Georgetown, but I agree with preCRNA that you will need a car. Unless you live within walking/bike riding distance of the place you will do clinicals, the grocery store (which you will not have time to visit much) and where your class is.

I would start saving money now. Pay off as much debt as you can. You do not need extra stress in school. Go travel, work strikes, you can make a bunch doing stuff like that. The interviewer wants to know that you have financially prepared to make a commitment to school.

Good Luck

i agree to your statements.. i would love to have a car, but right now i have 4 yrs left on car loan and with insurance/gas/etc.. i could save around 500$ a month.. so over the next 10-12 months i can bank about 5-6 grand.. i don't know, we will see.. thanks again for input--

The interview consists of presentation by the faculty, tour of the campus, lunch with current students and interview itself. Some people are asked clinical questions, but I think also they are really interested in you. What type of person are you, what are your interests, why do you want to be a CRNA...

I think everyone uses loans to some degree. I don't think that is the wrong answer, especially if it is part of your "PLANNING" on the road to your goal.

Depending on where you live, you may not need a car. This would be a question to ask to the current students during lunch. If you live in DC or VA you could potentially take the metro and shuttle to school. The only way it may be a problem is if you don't do your clinicals in a metro accessible hospital.

Good luck!!

thanks for input.. sounds about right.. hope all does go well..

dfk, I'll be there Oct 20th as well. I think the best advice I have received is to just "be myself".....

Hello,

I've been told to " be yourself and honest" at interviews. But,

I have recently been accepted for interview at Memorial Hos. of R.I.

I've been to Providence(pawtucket), but does anyone know anything about MHRI's program/interview ?:coollook:
