Hello! I had an interview at Sharp healthcare for a TELE observation unit. I was very nervous, but i feel as if i answered all the questions okay. I didn't bomb it, but I didn't feel like I did super great either. It was my first "real" interview! My last position i simply got hired right on the spot, no questions asked (I precepted on the unit in nursing school). Anyways, at the end of the interview she asked if she could have a copy of my CA nursing license. I explained to her how I am suppose to have it by the end of the week (a temporary). I even had it on my resume that I did not currently have it yet, but she looked so surprised. The whole good vibe of the interview changed and she said that they don't hire nurses with temps. Another nurse in the interview (there was a panel of 5 managers/team leads/nurse educator) stated that as long as I had a license number then it didn't matter. I didn't really get an answer at the end of the interview. Does anyone know if sharp will hire someone with a temporary license? Trying not to get my hopes up. I don't want to not get this job based on the fact I don't have a license yet. I was sent an email from the BON stating that my temp OR permanent license will be issued by the end of the week. Should I send it to the manager who interviewed me? I feel as if that's a bit much, however. Thanks for any input! :)

To be honest, the final call on whether any facility will hire a person with a temp license rests with that facility's HR department. I would shoot them a call/email and ask.
Best of luck!

California hospitals should recognize any temp license issued by the BON. But as previous OP has already mentioned, hiring an employee depends on the hiring department. Each department may have certain preferences. I wonder which Sharp facility this is just because i love floating to the tele obs in Kearny Mesa area.
Good luck! I hope they would still hire you.

Some institutions don't hire those only with interim permits, it's employer discretion.
