Hey AllNurses! I am a CNA with 5 years of experience, two of them being on a Women's Health/Pediatrics unit in a hospital. I applied for a position as a "School Certified Med Tech" and landed an interview this Monday! I'd never heard of such a position, I thought only RNs operated health clinics within schools. I've been making an effort to break away from med-surge CNA work so this is an exciting opportunity for me.
I am not a certified med tech however, but if I am understanding the description on the job application correctly it says I have 90 days to complete the course and become certified. The only "requirement" listed was "three years experience as a CNA".
Anyways, I'm wondering if anyone has any knowledge of the scope of this sort of position or what to expect in the interview. I am being interviewed at my local board of education office so I'm not sure if an RN or healthcare professional will be present or not, of if it will just be school administrators. Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure if I can be of much help, but we do have 3 staff here that are certified med tech's. They don't work in that capacity, but a few years back, the school decided to train 3 current staff members in case of emergencies and the nurse was gone. I know they studied, took a written test, and had to pass several meds in front of an RN to become certified. Good Luck on your interview!
