Interview on Ortho/Neuro Unit

Hello,

I have an interview on Monday for a Ortho/Neuro Unit as a new grad. I am soooo excited to FINALLY have an interview. I was wondering what would be good questions during the interview to ask pertaining to ortho/neuro?

They also have an opening for med/surg. Should I ask if I am not chosen for the ortho/neuro unit, can I interview for the med/surg position? I would take either position lol but do not want to appear aloof or unappreciative.

Also, I am under contract for a .2 (one day a week) position in a non-nursing field. I will mention that my contract is until June 15, 2011 and I do not want to break it because they were sooo good to me while I was in school. Does anyone have any recommendations? I plan on doing both until my contract is done.

Thanks in advance!!

I would ask questions of any unit:

are they a stroke certified facility?

what is the nurse/patient ratio?

do they titrate any drips?

is the floor a tele monitored floor?

what is the orientation period?

what kind of education do they offer?

etc. i am sure there are more questions - those are what i can think of off the bat.

i would not mention the med/surg opening during the interview personally. that is something you can ask HR if you decide you don't want the neuro/ortho position. HR probably sent your info to med/surg already.
