Hi All,
Just wondered if anyone has any advice tips on interview technique? Been a stay at home mom for two years, so this is my first interview for some time. I have it on Thursday for the DNP program at Case Western, they said it will be about an hour.
Thanks in advance
Joanna

I didn't have to interview for my MSN program, so no advice, just wanted to wish you luck! I have been a SAHM for the last couple of years, and was concerned about how that looks on paper, but it didn't appear to matter in my situation.

I found these to be useful when I was preparing for that dreaded interview. The first link has tons of very useful info. I was lucky, and didn't have a panel interview (thank goodness).
My best bit of advice is to be yourself, be very clear about your goals and research interests, and don't be afraid to toot your own horn. Make sure you ask them questions about their program, too.
Also- make sure you have your financial and home life plans thought out in advance, just in case they ask you about it.
Good luck to you! I know how stressful it can be. I just got accepted into a PhD program myself, so I can definitely empathize with the stress of going through the application process. Let us know how it goes! :)
Thanks for all the help! Interview seemed to go really well, we discussed what nursing means to me, where I feel I have skills to offer as an advanced practice nurse. We discussed my pre-reqs (as I am an international student I am applying before the pre-reqs are completed so visa processing can occur) and what courses I might be able to take alongside my pre-reqs to save money!!
The program director was really nice, and said she did not see a problem for me, although my Master's tutor ticked he was a 'personal friend' on the reference form so now I have to get another reference from my academic background - typical!! She said even though it was obvious he was my tutor they need to make sure, so have to figure out who to ask!
For those who are interested these were my stats (for a DNP program):
GPA: 3.59 (3.7 natural sciences) - genetics degree
GRE: verbal: 540, quantitative: 570, essays 6.0
Also I have a Masters in genetics and worked in bioscience sales for a year.

Congrats, Xigris!!!
Thank you for the help once again - what is funny is the first help link is for Leicester University where I did my undergrad degree! Should have checked there first!
BTW I got accepted, which is a huge relief, now gotta figure out if I can get an extension on my visa for cc so I don't have to head back to the UK between colleges!
Woohoo! Congrats to you, too! Funny about that Leicester link. :rotfl:
