Interview dilemma

So I currently have a few years of med/surg experience and am very interested in nicu but I also have an interested in er. So long story short I know have interviews for both floors at the same time! So I know neither floor can choose me but I'm curious if there are any previous ER nurses on here that moved to nicu. What is your opinion and experience of each.

Hi. I don't have experience in this, but a friend of mine did their preceptorship in the NICU and then accepted a full time position in the ED. They love the ED, and learn so much. Think about it, everything is fair game in the ED. You'll work with numerous different people of all different ages and with all sorts of co-morbidities. It's very fast paced and you will definitely gain a nursing backbone. She stated she may move back to NICU later on in her career but loves the ED for now. I was a float PCT that worked for a hospital with a level 1 trauma and now I'm starting in the NICU in a few weeks.

I also don't have personal experience in this, but my preceptor worked in the ED for years before transitioning to the NICU and was a fantastic nurse! It seems like there might not be much overlap, but I think the ED can prepare you for anywhere :)
