Interview with Davita!

 Just curious what to expect. I want to change specialties and get in to HD and am wondering if most nurses get hired without experience. Thanks for any information you have.

With your experience I would stick with ER. Dialysis is challenging at first but once you get the hang of it it is very routine. I loved it as a charge nurse but be prepared to be paid what a graduate nurse makes if you go to work for Fresenius. One thing you are guaranteed is you will be paid the lowest of all Dialysis Companies. If you thrive off of new faces and new challenges it is probably not for you. I thrived off the same patients for years and years. They become family. Just like all nursing be prepared to put your skates on and work chronically understaffed. Fresenius only allows the absolute minimum licensure requirement. If you are in charge you also work the floor, give meds, round with docs and do all orders. You also get to answer all nurse calls and pharmacy refills and be out in 8 hs or else!

Daytona Beach is in extreme need of dialysis teammates. If you have the right attitude and aren't afraid of hard work and criticism, we will bring you in and train you. Always remember that first: you know what you know, and build on that.

Good Luck!!
