Interesting Question: Do You Know?

Now when you administer lets say about 2-3 maybe upwards of 4 liter boluses of IV fluids how much do you expect the hgb/crit to drop? *dilutional*

I'm thinking about 1-2 points right?

Is their any standard way of determining the expected amount of dilution of hemoglobin/hematocrit with fluid boluses?

Thanks!

Good question, I dont know if theres an expected amount of hemodilution, but it really all depends on how dehydrated the patient is and how much fluid your giving. But with that amount of fluid your giving I would expect anywhere from a 1-2 point drop.
