Can anyone summarize your M-F Peritoneal Dialysis job? Daily tasks, goals, obstacles etc.
Is it all in office or do you go into people's homes often? Do you teach 1:1 or in groups/classroom?
How often are you on call? How does call pay work out? 50% more/hr?
Does PD typically pay more hourly than HD?

Where I am, pays around the same + mileage. I turned it down due to coverage area vs cost of gas and vehicle maintenance. On call, $2/hr, reg pay when have to go to out to home, regardless of hour (1.5 if overtime)
Call is a full week from 7a on Sunday to 7a following Sunday. There are 7 in the rotation, so every 7 weeks.
The teaching is usually 1:1, but if there are multiples and you are teaching, class room can be done. Depending, because of patient working, you may not be M-F 8-5, ours flex schedules due to people working and needing training
Thank you @Hoosier_RN. I always appreciate your input.

Also, per another thread on here, check with your auto insurance. With the travel/driving, it is considered business using your car for work, which puts your auto insurance in another class (higher), which added to my turning down the offer

I’m new to the home therapy dept (2 weeks) at my job and even though I’ll be doing home hemo dialysis I’ll be cross trained for PD as well. Our dept is small, only 5 of us including our nurse manager and we work M-F 8-4:30. The PD nurses rotate call but I won’t right now since I’m the only HHD nurse. All of our pt training is done in the clinic during clinic hrs. Home visits are done when needed/required but majority of the time, PD pts are seen in the clinic.
