Initial Licensure

U.S.A. New Jersey

Published

I took the NCLEX-PN 8/25/14 and found out I passed per quick results two days later. I'm literally stalking the BON because I'm eager to start applying to jobs. I actually went on an interview and I'm pending a background check. Generally, how long did it take you guys to get your license number? I know it says 4-6 weeks, but can it come sooner?

Rarely will it come sooner. Average is 5 weeks

Thanks for the reply! Ah, wishful thinking. I guess NJ is one of the slower states.

Crusty ol' bat here. I took a two day written exam using a #2 pencil, then waited twelve WEEKS for the results. :arghh: We knew it would take 8-12 weeks, so we waited :whistling: and eventually the results came. :)

We would tell potential employers the date we had taken state boards (as they were called back then) and we were hired with the understanding that if we failed, we would be fired. In the interim, we couldn't pass narcotics, hang blood, give blood thinners, or work on a specialty floor. It was med-surg or nursing homes only.

It will post online first. Once online you have your number and it can be verified by a potential employee with the BoN
