I am male currently considering doing a nursing degree in queensland.
What duties would I typically expect to do as a male nurse, what rates of pay, and what chances of advancement. I already have a qualification in another field related to health.
thanx

I don't think you need to use the term 'male nurse'. It's bit like saying 'female doctor' and redudant as all nurses all created equal. It's probably fair to say more guys like to go into ED, psych and management roles though.
A first year nurse in QLD Health starts on about $40K gross. Then there's always the shift penalties.
Advancement opportunities to higher levels are pretty decent too once you've accrued some clinical experience.
If your qualification if degree level, QUT offer a 2yr graduate entry nursing degree.

Hi Pitan - one of the perenial problems with nursing is that a lot of what we do is not visible from outside the profession. But as a nurse expect to take on the most varied job in the world.
In the course of my career I have had to do everything from being a manicurist to nailing the boards back into the floor. I have had to perform on the job plumbing repairs to CPR. You name it - you will find some nurse somewhere doing it:D

HI, I am an international student in california, doing an associate's degree in nursing. RN. What are the possibilities of working in australia? Later I do want to get my BSN. I have 3 semesters to finish. I also worked as surgical tech for a couple of years.
thanks a lot for your help.
take care and enjoy the holidays.

Opportunities are pretty good- better at mid-year and second half of the year than at new-years - reason for that is new year is when all the new grads hit the hospitals and they are full up by mid-year attrition will open new slots.
