Info to become a CNA

I'm trying to get started as a CNA just kinda lost on where to get the info I need to make it happen. I'm looking for free training if possible cause at the moment I'm not working. Ive contacted the Arkansas Board of Nursing for info on Free Training in Fayetteville Arkansas but no response back. I came across this site and I thought you guys might be able to share what info and knowledge you guys know. Any info would help me, Thank you friends.

I thought about working as a CNA while going to nursing school. But was unable to find anywhere that offered free training, I live in Conway (Central Arkansas). I found a couple places that offer the classes but all cost anywhere from $600-800. Good Luck!

I wasn't aware that anywhere offered free CNA training. I know that at many hospitals and nursing homes, you can get hired as a NA(nursing assist.) or PCT(pt care tech)...basically they do the same thing as a CNA, but with more supervision. I'm about to start UACCB's accelerated RN program and my cousin is trying to get me a job as a PCT at the hospital he works at. Not exactly CNA, but close and you still get experience.

That being said, I took the CNA course at my local community college and it offered very good training. I haven't tested to be certified yet but I have the training.

Here in SE Arkansas we have nursing homes that will provide CNA training for free if you will agree to work for them for a period of time. Check with local hospitals or with local nursing homes. Good Luck!! That is how I started out 17 years ago and now I am almost done with my ASN-RN

Are there any CNA training programs in Jonesboro, Arkansas? I just moved here and found a 4 week training course in Pocahontas, but it says that it is not eligible for financial aid, which is odd because in Georgia it is and it is a two semester course. Very confusing on the difference in programs in each state.
