Indiana Information

I am looking for places in Indiana that train Phlebotomists. I know there are different programs at various Ivy Techs throughout the state (the programs vary from site to site). I have not been able to find any hospital or labs that train. Medtexx does not train in this state either. I know there are lots of phlebotomists in the state and surely they did not all come from out of state. I have called hospitals, labs, the red cross, health departments and have not had much luck. The Ivy Tech programs near me only offer it as part of a medical assistant program (2 or 3 year program) and no phlebotomy externship (I think you need actually experience not just textbook knowledge to get a job). If you have any info to share just post it here. Thank you.

Probably most hospitals do on the job training for phlebotomy, unless you want to go to school to be an actual med tech which is a lot of school. These are the people that not only draw the blood, but run the tests as well. I think the title is med tech?!? Anyway, good luck. Hope this helps.

No the hospital in my county and the ones in surrounding counties do not train. I have asked and begged them. This is why they are looking for phlebotomists. I suppose they will recruit out of state or out of the country because of this. I suppose I will have to take the 2 year program at Ivy Tech. Takes just as long to be a nurse but 800 people compete each year for 20 slots. Indiana needs to get with the program.
