In need of advice.

After a long time of searching, I finally landed my first nursing job.

I am feeling very happy to embark of this journey. I am ready to care for my patients and their families.

At the same time I feel a bit nervous because it will be my first time working as a REAL nurse. My fellow nurses, how did you get over your nervousness. How did you adjust in the first few months?

    The best thing you can do is just jump in. Don't let fear hold you back from trying things and doing different skills. If it is something you aren't fully comfortable with, discuss it with your preceptor before doing the task. Try to use a see one, do one, teach one approach if you can. Get as much from your orientation as you can. Ask lots of questions. Talk to the other nurses for tips and tricks, not just your preceptor. The more you do the things you need to do, the less nervous you become. It is tough in the beginning because there is so much to learn and do. Just hang in there and be patient.
