I'm so nervous now...

Published

I was not too nervous about taking the NCLEX until I started looking at what I need to do to study. I looked at Kaplan and Hurst and went to B&N and looked at review books. I came on this site and read posts. Now I'm realizing how many people do not pass the first time and it's freaking me out! After all the stress of passing my last class of nursing school, I just kind of breathed a sigh of relief and told myself "All I have to do is pass boards". Not that I thought it would be easy, but I wasn't too worried about it.

Now I AM! I'm pregnant so I've been really emotional as it is and with this new stress it's a bit worse. (I was sobbing on my husband's shoulder last night for about 45mins over several things, one of them being the NCLEX and probably the other things made worse by the stress from the NCLEX)

I won't be taking it until around December I'm guess. Still waiting for the paperwork to go through (I finished school on the 14th) I decided to buy the Kaplan online program. I hope it works!

Thanks for listening...

The exam is different and as long as you study well, understand what the question is actually asking you, understand the rationale to the questions especially the ones you get wrong although look at the ones you get right and remember 85% of US trained pass first time. Sure you will do fine. Hang in there, study well and good luck. Read the positive threads

I also took the Kaplan Complete Online... It worked wonders for me! make sure you follow their instructions.. the Questions trainers really predicted how i would do on the exam, and overall the questions found on kaplan are very very similar to the one's on the actual nlcex, which is a very good thing!

For some Kaplan doesn't work, but it did for me and i took the test twice! first time i studied from nclex cram exam and a private tutor, but second time i used sauders 4th edition and Kaplan... follow their guideline, have faith in god, and YOU WILL PASS

good luck, and shoot me a pm if u need help

Don't let the stress that people vent on this website overwhelm you. Whenever you get a group of people all nervous about the same thing in a "room" together and they start to vent their stress, it starts to escalate beyond reason. The stress feeds off itself and becomes magnified.

Keep reminding yourself that approximately 85% of the people PASS the test on the first try. If your school prepared you well -- and you do a good review course, you should be part of that 85%.

((( HUGS ))) Try to read the positive posts too. 85% pass on the first try. Think positive, you did graduate from nursing school, you have the knowledge. NCLEX will be testing you on stuff you should know from school. Think of it as a final exam. Remember, this is only a test. The most important thing is to read each question carefully and form an answer in your head then read the answer choices, this should hopefully help you at least eliminate one or two choices. Read up in your reveiw book about how to answer questions on your boards and other test taking strategies. ( that helped me calm my nerves a bit ) Hang in there. Like one of the other posters said, " Don't let stress that people vent overwhelm you. Keep reminding yourself that 85% pass on their first try." Good luck as you study and prepare. You can do this.

im not done with school yet and im already nervous about taking the NCLEX soon. =/
