If you're thinking about making the jump

Published

Hi All,

If you are seriously thinking about entering the humbling world of nurse anesthesia education, there's something that you should read.

A couple of senior nurse anesthesia students have designed a web site

for SRNA's as part of their capstone project.

The address is - http://www.srnas.com

Click on "Expert's Corner" and read the commentary by Dr. Haas. This man has a wealth of experience as both an educator and anesthetist, and he gives it to you straight in a concise, though extremely informative manner. Do yourself a favor - If you're thinking about getting into a program (I'm in my first semester), then do read Dr. Haas' words. He speaks the truth.

While you are there, do these guys a favor and log in and do a posting or two on their discussion boards. You don't have to set up camp there - just help them out. Peer support is a large part of anesthesia education, and we should support their project as we would like to be supported when is is our turn to complete a thesis or capstone.

There you have it. My only advice from the first semester point of view - get your affairs in order EARLY at home. Remember - Life doesn't stop when you enter anesthesia school - it INTENSIFIES.

Good Luck to all!

Great site! Thanks.

Great site! Thanks.

Just wanted to bump this to the front page....this is really good advice. I am shadowing a CRNA tomorrow all day so I am pretty excited about seeing some more surgerys and learning more about the field. If anyone on here lives in MI and is an SRNA please let me know, I am interested in talking with you about your experience.
