ideas to pay for school

Hello everyone, I have been lurking for a while and am finally ready to jump in!

I have been accepted to the Grant Macewan Bscn program commencing January 09 and now have to figure out how to pay for it:eek:. Hubby and I are part owners in a company, which unfortunatley has sucked us dry. We already have a big debt load because of this, but I realized I will have to go more in debt ( student loan) for school and I know it will be worth it.

I was just wondering if any one in Alberta knew of any monetary incentives for new students entering this program? I will be applying for as many grants or bursaries as I can from the government and the school, but if anyone else has any other ideas I would sure appreciate it. Are there any incentives from hospitals or the health regions for examples?

Thanks in advance for any advice! This is a great site!

Capital Health won't give you a red cent. There is some funding available for nurses already working for them and believe me we have to jump through hoops to get at it.

David Thompson Region has some bursaries - but they come with a return service commitment. see http://www.dthr.ab.ca/careers/student/bursary.htm

I thought that East Central Health might as well, but I am not sure. Capital has nothing.

With the new super-board, not sure how long any of these will last anyway.

Thanks for your replies! I will have to keep looking, if nothing comes up, well then, I'll just have to add the student loans to the pile! :o
